The 10 Best Interior Designers in Tbilisi

Updated 26 firms evaluated10 listed

Most foreign owners here hire a designer because the renovation market runs on verbal quotes and drawings that arrive late. We looked at 26 Tbilisi studios, checked what each one publishes about scope, fees and languages, and kept the ten a non-Georgian speaker can actually hire. Studios that post photographs and no contact details did not make it. How we rank

What interior design costs in Tbilisi

Design is billed per square metre of the apartment, and the market splits by the currency the studio quotes in. Studios pricing in lari sit around 30 to 100 GEL per square metre for a design project. Studios pricing in dollars publish tiers from about $20 per square metre for layouts, lighting and technical drawings, up to $40 to $50 once decoration and site supervision are included. Space planning on its own can be bought from around $7 per square metre, and a paid consultation from about 100 GEL.

The build is a separate number. Published 2026 rates put a full renovation from black frame at roughly 400 to 600 GEL per square metre at budget level, 600 to 900 mid range, and 900 to 1,500 and above for premium work. Turnkey packages that bundle design and construction are quoted at $350 to $550 per square metre.

How to choose

Start from what you actually need. If the layout stays put, you may only need planning and a material list. If you are knocking through walls, moving a bathroom or rewiring, you need the full drawing set, and the studios that publish what is inside it are easier to compare than the ones that say "design project" and stop.

Three things to settle on the first call

  • Who supervises the site, and how often. Author supervision is what stops a builder improvising. It is usually billed separately, per visit or as a flat rate.
  • Who owns procurement. If the studio buys materials for you, ask whether they take a margin on suppliers and get that in writing.
  • What a revision costs. Two rounds included and the third billed is normal. Unlimited revisions is not a real offer.

Red flags

  • Renders and no drawings. Pretty visualisations do not tell a builder where the sockets go.
  • A per square metre price with no deliverable list attached.
  • No legal entity name or identification number you can check on the public registry.
  • Pressure to pay the full design fee before the measured survey happens.
  • A studio that will not name a completed project you can go and stand in.

When you do not need to pay for this

If you bought a finished apartment and want new paint, curtains and a sofa, hire a good crew, choose the colours yourself and skip the design fee entirely. The same goes for a small rental flat where the finish is going to be neutral by design. Interior design earns its money on layout decisions, and if you are not changing the layout there is little to decide.

Pay for it when walls or plumbing move, when the flat is oddly shaped, when you are furnishing from abroad and cannot inspect anything yourself, or when the budget is large enough that a 5% mistake costs more than the fee. It is also worth paying for planning only, without the full package, if you are confident on finishes but unsure whether the kitchen fits where you think it does.

Frequently asked

Design documentation is priced per square metre of the apartment, not per hour. Local studios quoting in lari sit around 30 to 100 GEL per square metre. Studios quoting in dollars run from roughly $20 per square metre for layouts and technical drawings up to $40 to $50 once decoration and site supervision are included. On a 70 square metre flat that is broadly 2,000 to 9,000 GEL for the design package alone. Treat these as bands, because scope, revision rounds and how often the designer visits site all move the number.
